At Home With Trude Kjos
We just adore Trude Kjos‘ beautiful home on the outskirt of Oslo, Norway. Trude is a professional flower decorator and has also a real passion for interior design. In her own home she has created a living space that is more than just about style – it is functional and a happy place to live in.

Trude: “I am drawn to the Nordic rustic style with contrasts of new and old. I’m more keen to create something different than following a particular style slavishly. I use a lot of grey, black and white while also using a lot of natural elements to give a softer impression for a more personal feel. My statement furniture piece is a 100 year old bench that stands in the middle of the living room and breaks up among the more modern items in my home. Green plants and fresh flowers are also a must with me.”
“My favourite room is the kitchen – this is where my and my family spend most of our time. The large windows make it a bright and airy room to live in”.
“My tips for creating a Nordic rustic style are to use natural, rustic material, where possible with rough surfaces that brings nature into your space. Paint walls in contrast colours – creating depth and atmosphere in the room. But make sure to buy what you like and what you think looks beautiful. Follow your heart more than just interior design magazines, that way you get a home that is truly unique.”
